There’s no way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a good one. – Jill Churchill

Breastfeeding may be natural, but it’s not always easy. If your journey is not going as you expected, it will be ok. Here are some common issues many experience:

  • suspected tongue or lip tie
  • nipple pain, cracked or blistered nipples
  • suspected or recurrent breast infection
  • latching or positioning difficulties
  • slow infant weight gain
  • supplementing but want to preserve breastfeeding
  • pumping difficulties
  • feeling that breastfeeding is just not going well, or is not enjoyable
  • relactation after ceasing breastfeeding

Before the journey begins, there may be questions about:

  • establishing breastfeeding and milk production
  • processing a previous, difficult breastfeeding journey
  • inducing lactation for an adoptive baby or a surrogate baby

As the journey continues, many also have questions about:

  • introducing a bottle to a breastfed infant
  • improving feeding skills for an exclusively bottle fed infant
  • introducing solids appropriately
  • developing a plan for returning to work
  • compassionate weaning
